The Engineering Design Show (EDS) is an event dedicated to engineers looking for direct access to component manufacturers, such as Hitaltech.
Since the show has been created, we’ve been a near permanent presence as the connecting technologies and enclosures specialist.
For us, the Engineering Design Show is an opportunity to discuss connectors and enclosures with product designers looking to solve their connector and enclosure design challenges.
But this year, we want to do things slightly differently.
EDS 2024: A focus on R&D and Value Added Services
This year, we will focus the discussion on both R&D support and the Value Added Services we can apply to help designers create smaller, better, more robust products for automative, industrial, EV charging and other applications.
Our goal will be both:
- To explore custom options for designers who need to modify off-the shelf products or even create components from scratch.
- To feature our Value Added Services, which enable manufacturers to customise every element of their component supply, from kitting and printing to machining and buffer stock packages.
To make conversations even more productive, we’re asking designers to send over their challenges in advance, and then join us to discuss them. Designers can even contact us to book a slot with one of our experts.
Talking R&D at Hitaltech
As its case studies demonstrate, Hitaltech is a champion of designers, always eager to support R&D early in the development lifecycle with a wide range of off-the-shelf and highly customisable connector, terminal block and enclosure options.
Shaun Rose, Area manager at Hitaltech said: “The earlier we’re involved in a project the better we’re able to help solve a designer’s challenges. Often that’s vibration or temperature issues. Frequently it’s about packing as much functionality as possible into the smallest spaces. For any product designers anticipating connector or enclosure issues, I’d urge them to talk to us at EDS and, if possible, get in touch beforehand to discuss their challenges. We’re always able to find a solution.”
Hitaltech’s added value and customisation capability
Those solutions are often a result of Hitaltech’s Value Added Services (VAS), a range of design and production options from which clients can ‘pick and mix’ to create their ideal product.
“From printing to kit bagging, wiring loom assembly to machining, our VAS options are helping more and more customers increase efficiency, and save time and money. In the current environment, our clients tell us our Value Added Services are invaluable,” said Shaun Rose.
One of Hitaltech’s latest offering is full-colour printing on terminal blocks & enclosures. We have introduced speedy, detailed and cost-effective full colour printing, which allows legends and coded symbols to be included on standard terminal blocks. These new colour-printed terminal blocks will enable quicker and more accurate wiring. This option was only previously available through repeated layers of single-colour pad printing, which was expensive; or attaching sticky labels, which was labour-intensive and time-consuming. Andy Fitzer, managing director of Hitaltech, said the full colour printing process had been developed to service growing demand from customers.
He explained: “There is an obvious advantage to colour-coding terminal blocks. With the addition of clear legends, an electrical engineer’s job is made so much easier. Tasks can be completed quicker; mistakes are less common and costly mistakes avoided. And now, for the first time, terminal blocks are available with full-colour printing through a quick and cost-effective process. This development is set to make a huge difference in our market, and our customers are eager to begin working with them.”
