Pluggable screwless Terminal Blocks and connectors generally allow the connection of wires to a PCB in a fairly fast and efficient way compared to traditional screw-type options. This is usually done by pressing a lever or button, historically with a tool/screwdriver which then opens the clamp before inserting the wire. Therefore, screwless Terminal Blocks and connectors have always allowed for faster and easier installation in this regard. The new Wire Trap goes one step further!
How does the Wire Trap work?
A simple wire insertion triggers the contact, which automatically clamps the wire in place.
It works exactly like a mouse trap; nothing needs to be activated, and no tool of any type is required to open the clamp beforehand.
Today, this innovative wire trap connection technology is available at Hitaltech. The component’s part number is HSFT, and it comes in 2 to 16 poles variants, and a pitch of 3,5mm. In the following months, as this innovative screwless plug and other Terminal Blocks will be added to our product range and become part of our catalog, additional technical details will be accessible on our website.
The Wire Trap connector offers 6 key benefits:
- Tool-free installation: At delivery, its wiring area is open, allowing for both stranded and solid wires to be inserted directly. The wire range goes from 20 to 16 AWG (0.50mm 2 to 1.5 mm2).
- Ease of Wiring: Low insertion force and a special spring profile make wiring easy.
- Safety: The spring locks the conductor only when it’s fully inserted; moreover, it secures the conductor in place under tensile strength. The conductor cannot be pulled out easily and it does guarantee a secure electrical connection. The product is due to be UL-approved later this year.
