Everyone’s facing extremely challenging supply issues at present. Andy Fitzer offers an update on what Hitaltech is doing to alleviate pressures.
How Covid has affected Hitaltech
Last year the electronics industry faced a worldwide shortage of the resin used to mould the plastic housings that are an essential part of terminal blocks and connectors. Cue market panic. Because manufacturers knew lead times were increasing, everyone placed orders – an entirely reasonable thing to do. But as our phone lines became incredibly busy and the order book bulged, our raw materials became increasingly difficult to access. A shortage of truck drivers combined with cargo ships bursting at the seams meant a 5-week wait for product ballooned to a scarcely believable 25-week wait.
For our customers, the result has been an increase in lead times and, of course, they are experiencing similar challenges with countless other parts from other suppliers. So what are we doing about it?
What we are doing to make things better
Right now, we’re planning well in advance, looking as far ahead as we possibly can to make things move faster and alleviate this most challenging of situations.
We’re also working hard to keep you informed throughout. Communication may not make things move faster but keeping you in the loop does mean you can plan accordingly, and we know that makes a difference.
Thanks for bearing with us.
