Increasingly, electrical product manufacturers need to be metering manufacturers too. Hitaltech helps make it happen.
You’ve designed the electric vehicle. But for an increasing number of our clients, what happens next is that customers want to see how much energy they’re using and how much it’s costing them. Then, that information needs transmitting to an app, a bank account for payment, or similar.
As a result, EV manufacturers can’t remain merely EV manufacturers. They and many others in aligned industries need to be smart meter manufacturers too, and that means they’ll be using these three essentials:
- High power terminal blocks: Metering is a high power application, so it’s important to choose a terminal block with the current rating to cope. Operating at too high a current for the terminal block will eventually lead it to overheat and malfunction. Choose a terminal block rated for at least 150% of the maximum current expected in the system.
- DIN rail housing: UL-94 compliant (the standard for flammability of plastics), the XTS range is particularly well suited to energy meeting, and there’s a wide range of shoulder, opening and internal space configurations to suit your product design and application.
- Flexible board to board interconnect systems can be essential in EV and metering applications, where space constraints often demand flexibility to enable PCBs to fit together in a snug, compact way. It’s also important that such connectors are able to withstand high temperatures.
